Is AI Replacing My Career?

In recent months, I have been receiving requests about the querents career moves.  Many of them have received the pink slip / lay-off because their jobs were replaced by AI. Some clients are now "training" the AI and are "forced", no option, to use AI and the bosses want to see results. AI is here.

I am dedicating this post to those of us who have or will lose their employment to AI.

The following archetypes represent the cold, calculated logic of the modern algorithm. When auditing your career, these are the only "consultants" that matter.

The Magician (I): The Ultimate Processor
  • Why it Represents AI: He has all the tools (data) on the table and knows exactly how to manipulate them to create a result.
  • The Career Vibe: "The Architect." Use this if you’re asking about starting a new project or "hacking" a professional problem.
The Hermit (IX): The Search Engine
  • Why it Represents AI: He carries the lamp (the light of knowledge) through the dark. He is isolated, objective, and purely focused on the "Truth" found in the archives.
  • The Career Vibe: "The Analyst." Best for deep-research questions, finding "hidden" career paths, or working from home (the ultimate Hermit move).
Justice (XI): The Algorithm
  • Why it Represents AI: Justice doesn't have "feelings." She weighs the facts on a scale and delivers a binary outcome: Right or Wrong, Profit or Loss.
  • The Career Vibe: "The Auditor." Use this for contract negotiations, salary disputes, or legal career moves. It’s 100% objective.
The Star (XVII): The Network
  • Why it Represents AI: She pours water into the stream (the flow of information). It represents "The Cloud," hope, and the future of technology.
  • The Career Vibe: "The Visionary." Best for long-term career planning and "Big Picture" goals.
The Queen of Swords: The Intellectual
  • Why it Represents AI: She doesn't care about your "vibes" or your "destiny"—she cares about the Static Input. She uses her sword to cut through the "drama" and get to the facts.
  • The Career Vibe: "The Senior Consultant." She audits the bid, fixes the spreadsheet, and tells the boss exactly why the project is failing without blinking.

What jobs / careers can AI not replace (at the moment)? To name a few:

  • Skilled Trades - Electrician and Plumbers (master licenses make more than doctors)
  • Landscapers and Snowblowers - Although on the verge to be replaced by existing remote controlled machines, but they're too expensive to purchase and humans are a cheaper option; I can not imagine AI at the rooftop clearing 2 feet of snow!!!
  • Forestry and Arborists - I can't see AI doing this physical job no time soon
  • Handyman and Painters - I don't see this replaced by AI either
  • Construction - No Comment!
  • Justice - Lawyers, Judges and Police (from ticket to defense and then to court)
  • Healthcare - RNs and Doctors (Doctors have empathy to hand down bad news, AIs don't)
  • Science - Biology, Chemists and Physicists (of all levels)
  • Cleaners and Janitors
  • Flipping Burgers (I am trying to keep this blog light)
  • Body Language Experts - AI has a difficult time identifying someone, nevermind reading detailed facial and body emotions
  • ALS and BLS - AI will need hands and facial expressions to use sign language
  • Any job that requires physical or emotional use
I say, get certified at a vocational school or online and learn a trade that you can fall back on when that time comes knocking on your door.
